Product Overview: Coil Trim Optimizer
The Coil Trim Optimizer (CTO)
efficiently groups customer orders across slitting and packaging operations. Slitting operations typically results in high levels of trim loss and/or large amounts of finished goods inventory.
Project Case Study: Novelis Re-Melt Material Flow
headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, is a global leader in aluminum rolled products and aluminum can recycling with 36 operating facilities in 11 countries. The current production rate at the caster centers could not produce a sufficient volume of ingots to feed the hot mill. In order to ensure sufficient melting capacity to feed the casters at the new increased caster center rates, a two-phase development plan was proposed by Novelis.
Project Case Study: Novelis Ingot Replenishment Pull Simulation
investigated the potential for reducing work-in-progress inventory levels across the supply chain through the introduction of Lean manufacturing techniques. They determined that a pull system using a replenishment buffer to control the level and flow of materials into the plant would resolve the high levels of work-in-progress.
